Hi everyone!
You know when you're fabric shopping and have a few selections, do you remember all the details for each piece of fabric?
If you've got mumma-brain like me, then you wouldn't.
I like to keep fabric notes with the folded fabric in my stash so here's what I do!
Use your phone camera and snap a photo of the tag attached to the fabric roll.
Have the fabric in the photo too if the description isn't enough to jog your memory.
Now you have all the information including washing instructions, fabric composition and price.
When you're home, write the details on a Fabric Notes card and pack it with your fabric.
I made some before Christmas, printed them on coloured card and sent them to friends along with a Peacoat Ornament.
A great way to keep your stash organised!

That's a great idea. I've started taking photos on my phone with the fabric underneath the tag, but haven't used the fabric cards like that yet. Yours look great. :)
ReplyDeletethanks Yana. They help keep everything organised. :)
DeleteLove this idea! I have done it a few times but never with any consistency. And those cards are a delight :D
ReplyDeleteCheers Amanda. Time to get consistent yeah? :P
DeleteGood idea. I think I might make up some fabric notes now. I just bought a whole bunch of reduced Christmas fabric. What a lovely gift idea for seamstresses too.
ReplyDeleteCool! I love receiving sewing gifts and my sewing friends loved these. Hope you're well! :)
DeleteI am always asking for the bolt back at the cutting table because I forgot to read the end! This is a great idea.
ReplyDeletehaha! Thanks A. :)
DeleteI need to start doing this - it is a great idea and simple! I probably should have started doing it years ago before I accumulated so much fabric :)
ReplyDeleteJacinata you are a gem!!! I always do the "ohhh what were the washing instructions again" cry when I get home!!! Fabulous...Need to make me up some of those lovely fabric note cards xx
ReplyDeletethis is a great idea! although I do have a lot of second-hand fabric that I have to rely on my own measuring tools and sense to figure out what the fiber content is. but stilL: I love these little cards.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
